Sri Venkateswaraswamy temple was constructed by Ahmedabad Andhra MahaSabha to provide and show the devotees of Lord sriBalaji residing in and around Gujarat, the sevas and pujas being performed in Lord’s abode of Tirumala. The land for the temple was acquired in 2000 and Bhoomipujafor construction of temple held in 2003. The temple was opened for the public after Pranapratishta on 7th April 2007. For day to day activities and running of the temple in smooth manner, an independent trust was formed in the name of “ Sri Balaji Temple Development Trust” is formed in 2012.
All the pujas of this temple are performed, in the similar way of Tirumala by recruiting pojaris from Veda Patashala of TTD . The temple designs were drawn as per VikhanasaAagamasastra with the help of TirumalaTirupatiDevastanams (TTD) Tirupati. The carving of stone work was carried at Tirupati and dressed stones were transported by road to Ahmedabad. Around 100 shilpis had carved the stones for two years period at Tirupati, and around 80 shilipis were engaged from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to construct such a big monument at Ahmedabad. Sculptures and temple architecture was constructed by reputed contractors who had constructed many temples around the world. Installation of idols of Lord Sri Balaji, Padmavati, Godadevi, Garuda, Jaya, Vijaya and DhwajaStambham was made along with temple and GaliGopuram at that time of Pranapratishta itself.
A KalyanaMandapam comprising two Mandapams(Halls), few rooms,Kitchen for making Prasadams is added in the temple complex after two years to give facility to devotees who wish to have overnight stay and also perform functions like marriage etc. in temple complex.
Sri Balaji temple also providing the services to the devotes who are planning to visit Tirupti by opening E-sevacentre. The devotees can book Darshan tickets and rooms atTirumalahills from this temple itself, so that devotee can have hassle free darshan and proper planning of their journey well in advance of sixty days. A south Indian restaurant Vakuladevi canteen is arranged in the complex for free Anna daan on every Saturday.
Apart from daily pujas, Special Sevas like Suprabhatam, Viswarupam, TomalaSeva, Archana, SahasranamaArchana, AshtadalaPadapadmaradhana, NijapadaDarshanam, Abhishekham, Kumkumarchana, UnjalaSeva, VahanaSeva, Satya Narayan katha, Kalyanotsavametc are performed on specific days and particular timings. Temple also celebrates annual events of Brahmotsavam, PushpaYagamand Pavitrotsavam apart from other traditional festivals. Weekly Gaanaseva for promoting traditional and devotional music of India, also Vishnu Sahasranamarchan is performed on every Saturdays.Mundan ceremony to remove hairs is also done on every Saturday and Sundays.
Temple priests, Nada swarabrindam and prasadam makers are arranged with persons trained in Tirupatisampradayams.
Social service units for organizing free distribution of books, kits to poor students, utensils to under privileged old age homes, weekly collection of blood at temple with the help of IndianRed Cross society on every Sundays.
Temple Trust accepts donations for various events, materials, flowers ,vastradanam for different idols.
