Apart form the regular religious temple activities (Adyatmika Seva)- Sri Balaji Temple has a vision towards extending the helping hand to the society (Manava seva). As a step in this direction, Sri Balaji Temple has constituted a Social Service Unit on 22nd June 2012.The social service unit distributed school uniforms, shoes ,school bags along with books and pencil boxes to students at industrial slum areas of Ahmedabad. It has also donated cooking utensils to old age homes. In addition, old (but intact) clothes collected from devotees are distributed to poor people. Blood donation camp is organized, every Sunday evening, at the temple premises with the help of Indian Red Cross society. Till date 431 such camps are conducted and 6572 units of blood collected from the devotees.
This contribution was appreciated by Government of Gujarat and Indian Red Cross Society as well. Sri Balaji Temple had received three awards in 2014 from Government of Gujarat for the best service in entire Gujarat for conducting the highest number of campus without interruption and persuasion. Minister of health and family welfare of Gujarat state, had appreciated the unique gesture of Sri Balaji Temple in the service of humanity and requested all other religious institutions to emulate the same.
